Customers itching to give Apple their $25 for the cloud music service

“Well its November and still no iTunes Match. Why won't apple take my $25!!!”, reads a comment over at Apple Support Communities. Another responds, saying “I agree! I got me $25 just itching to give to em too!”

Indeed, Apple has missed its self-imposed deadline for the iTunes Match launch, spurring a numerous amount of reports on the matter.

It’s not unheard of for a big corporation to miss a deadline every now and then, but it kinda is for Apple.

The company promised during its October 4 iPhone event that iTunes Match would be ready as soon as November kicked in. As we can all see, that didn’t happen. The company also failed to put up a notice so that customers at least know it’s being delayed.

Another person writing on Apple’s forums says, “My understanding is that apple didn't get all of the necessary music licensing agreements signed in time.”

With no information whatsoever as to who this person is and what their connections are, I can hardly pass this information as accurate, but I’m mentioning it for what it's worth.

However, knowing what Apple has been through during these past couple of months, including the passing away of its visionary, Steve Jobs, it is safe to assume iTunes Match is being delayed for only a few days.

For those who aren’t very familiar with the service, iTunes Match is an iCloud feature that will allow customers to upload their music libraries to the cloud and access them anywhere on all their devices.

The $25 feature fills Apple’s servers only with the music it’s missing. If you own songs that are already on Apple’s iTunes Store, Apple will not waste your time downloading those particular files. However, it will serve up a 256-Kbps AAC DRM-free quality version on your demand.
