Apple has issued the first update to the latest iteration of iTunes. Version 8.0.1 of the media player seamlessly plays the current song when creating a new Genius playlist, improves syncing spoken menus to iPod nano, accessibility with VoiceOver and background update checking, but also address a few issues with movie deleting and syncing Genius playlists to iPod.

The latest version of Apple's popular media player application includes some cool additions, such as a Genius playlist creation feature, a Genius side-bar, which recommends music one might like, a new Grid View, improved accessibility, HD TV shows – now viewable on your Mac too, while the music visualizer also got a few new themes. Both iTunes 8 and iTunes U are now accessible with VoiceOver on your Mac.

According to the Cupertino-based Mac maker, “iTunes 8.0.1 improves stability and performance and provides a number of important bug fixes.” Those include:

• Seamlessly plays the current song when creating a new Genius playlist.
• Improves syncing spoken menus to iPod nano.
• Addresses an issue of deleting HD TV episodes when downloading.
• Improves checking for updates from the App Store.
• Improves accessibility with VoiceOver.
• Addresses problems syncing Genius results to iPod.

The new Grid view added in iTunes 8 allows for more advanced browsing. Users are able to see their iTunes library using cover art. When you select Artists, Genres, or Composers, iTunes automatically creates groups of albums based on your selection. But Apple couldn't just roll out a revamped version of the media player without adding some new visuals as well. Thus, new visualizer effects were included, boasting a 3D-scape of constantly-colliding spheres, ribbons, and lights that move to the beat of the song that's currently playing.

Go ahead and check all these features out by updating iTunes now (free download). If you're already using the new features, version 8.0.1 of iTunes will only make them better.
