iStat Menus, the powerful monitoring tool for Mac-savvy users, has reached version 3.0. As a paid app, iStat Menus 3 is now on sale, going for just $10, according to bjango (formerly iSlayer), the developer. Upon download, the software runs in trial mode with all the features enabled for 15 days. The new version delivers numerous new additions, enhancements, and bug fixes.

For starters, iStat Menus’ preferences are now in a standalone app, rather than a preference pane. In fact, the whole application has been redesigned. Fans of the monitoring tool originally developed by iSlayer are highly encouraged to give it a go. However, if you don’t want to lose your old free version, you’d better fire it up separately.

The software has added a bunch of new features like a stacked mode to sensors extra, fan speed control to sensors extra (Intel only), public IP to network extra, a battery extra, sun and moon info for each city in Date & Time, moon phase info to Date & Time, as well as a fuzzy clock and flashing time separators. S.M.A.R.T. drive temperature monitoring has been improved, while CPU usage is allegedly reduced in sensors extra. Another new addition consists of localizations (seven of them, to be precise) for menu extras: Dutch, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Swedish and Japanese.

iStat Menus 3.0 bug fixes are listed below. · Fixed crash in iStat Local. · Fixed crash in Network extra. · Fixed crash in Disks extra. · Fixed bug with network usage on newer Macs. · Fixed bug with CPU usage being incorrect with some configurations. · Fixed conflict between Messages.framework and network extra. · Fixed bug with calendar week display. · Fixed bug with date display in Date & Time dropdown. · Fixed connection time for PPP connections. · Fixed time for dialup connections. · Fixed ejecting of network disks.

bjango also has an iPad app on sale called Phases. Described as “a beautifully crafted app that shows you all kinds of useful information about the moon—and a little bit about the sun,” the software is immediately available from the iTunes App Store for $1.99.

Note: Originally formed in mid 2005, the iSlayer team transformed into bjango in early 2009, according to its “about us” page.
