Bjango has released iStat Menus 3.16, an update to its flagship system monitoring utility for Mac OS X. Version 3.16 adds an extra GPU memory usage to CPU dropdown, support for IPv6 addresses in network extra, and new language support, to name some of the key enhancements.

iStat Menus is a useful application that helps Mac owners monitor their system right from the menubar, offering eight menu extras that let them further keep tabs on every aspect of the system.

iStat menus offers the ability to track the activity of key system components like the CPU, disks, battery, memory, and sensors, as well as various system activities like disk usage, network, and even simple things like date and time.

One of the most popular monitoring tools for Mac OS X, iStat Menus was originally provided free of charge (when its developers were called iSlayer).

Starting with version 2.0, iStat Menus takes full advantage of frameworks only found in Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6, therefore it is not supported on Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger.

The single remaining Tiger-compatible version is iStat Menus 1.3. For users of this old version of OS X, iStat Menus is free to use indefinitely.

As noted above, version 3.16 adds a number of enhancements, including: - Added GPU memory usage to CPU extra dropdown. - Added name of active GPU to CPU extra dropdown. - Added support for IPv6 addresses in network extra. - Added support for multiple IP addresses in network extra. - Localized names in the combined extra. - Fixed bug with terabyte values in the network extra dropdown. - Fixed bug with german fuzzy clock translation.
