Phelios has announced the release of iSnap, a puzzle game for iPhone and iPod touch. iSnap is based on a previously-released game for the Mac, developed by the same team. Phelios' PTK development kit has been used to bring a slew of games to the Mac. iSnap for iPhone and iPod touch costs 99 cents, and is available from the iTunes App Store.

Since iSnap is heavily based on its Mac counterpart, the game has you dragging a metallic ball, aiming and releasing it onto a board of gems. Naturally, you must aim the right colored gems to clear them when the ball hits. But there's more.

To eliminate more gems in one strike, you must aim and hit gem groups of the same color. This is useful when you advance to increasingly difficult levels, where you will have to remove as many gems as possible with a single blow. Bonuses that change the gameplay experience can also be earned, while new challenges are unlocked as the player progresses through the iSnap's levels.

From the iTunes App Store, iSnap's official description goes,

Based on the original Mac game called Snap, iSnap takes the same gaming to your iPhone, and offers solid good fun with the help of a metallic ball. Drag, pull and release the ball so it up into the air and lands on the board, where gems will be cleared. If the ball lands on grouped gems of the same color, the whole group will be eliminated. Clear as many gems as fast as possible before the board fills up to the top, and try to beat the highest score.

iSnap is currently available in English only. To download and run the game, you will need at least iPhone / iPod touch firmware 2.0. The currently available version of the software is 2.0.2, available for free download here.

iSnap is at its first release on the App Store and has no updates available. The addictive puzzle game can be acquired, as noted above, for $0.99.
