The company iRobot launched today a pair of robots that take cleaning pools really seriously. This is not a first though. iRobot and Aqua products Group companies have already developed pool-cleaning robots like the Roomba Vacuuming Robot in 2002 and other robots that can perform
"a variety of dull and dirty chores".

Using their powerful vacuum and filtration system, both Verro 300 (pictured) and the Verro 600 can vacuum up leaves, algae, bacteria and particles as small as two microns (a fraction of the diameter of a human hair, which averages 70 microns).

They can perform all these actions underwater (evidently): the robots crawl below the waterline, automatically vacuuming up. They're also capable of cleaning the walls and stairs that other automatic systems miss. Irobots will clean the entire pool from floor to waterline in a session that lasts 60 or 90 minutes, improving the circulation of pool chemicals and water temperature, while reducing pool filtration system run-time.

The Verro 300 retails for about 800 US $ and suits harder surfaced pools like concrete. It uses a hydro-jet to blast the pool clean, while the Verro 600 (1200$) features brushes that are suited to scrubbing tile or vinyl.

Like all iRobot home robots, the Verro 300 and 600 robots are easy to use. Just drop the robot in the pool and it begins to clean.

One thing it won't to do is clean pools full of blood (sorry). So, it will probably be a waste if you're one of those vampires that likes to take a "snack" while enjoying a hot Jacuzzi bath.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
