iRiver adds a new item to its portfolio. Recently, the company announced the NV player. At first sight, the player looks more like a huge PMP. In fact, the manufacturers insisted on developing the popular GPS functions, so the device is capable of keeping you on the right track according to your destination.

Apart from that, this player features remarkable DMB functionality, which can keep you entertained, when you decide to go out with your friends, provided a signal is available on your location.

According to iRiver, the NV version is going to be launched in Korea first - which doesn't come as a surprise - and then in other countries. I have to admit I like the sexy finished monochrome display in the thumb control. But isn't it a little bit too shabby? Its purpose is that of showing the main functions, but also of indicating what kind of turn you have to take next. I'm just curious: does it use a woman's voice, too?

The NV player sports a generous 7" LED WVGA display at 840 x 480 resolution, a couple of SD memory cards slots, T-DMB television, 1.3 megapixel camera, and a sexy remote control, for the ladies. In addition, it also features an integrated GPS navigation system, DMB, support for a wide range of audio and video formats. NV is perfectly compatible with MP3, WMA, OGG, ASF, WMV, MPG, XviD and H.264.

I couldn't help myself wondering why does it need so many SD card slots? Probably for storing both media and map data separately.

The manufacturers thought about everything and added an integrated FM tuner on the recipe, in case some owners get tired of the music. I don't see why anyone would switch it on the radio tuner, since they buy a player with so many capabilities.

In case you were wondering about the price tag, the manufacturers are keeping it secret for the time being, so no details about that yet.
