Yesterday was a big day for Apple, as it showcased its new iPod Shuffle, Nano and Video versions. But competitors like iRiver
don't seem to be intimidated by Apples' new releases. The Korean company presented earlier this day its new DAP MP3 player dubbed S10.
The S10 features a D-Link interface with robust buttons and it could be declared the tinniest MP3 player that features a color display. It only weighs 17.5 grams, measures 42 X 30 X 10.8 mm and its OLED display has a 128 X 96 resolution in 1.15-inches. There is only one version that packs 2 GB of memory (no flash as of yet) and supports MP3, WMA, OGG and ASF audio formats. There is no video support however, but the player can display BMP files. Other standard features are an FM radio receiver, USB 2.0 interface for file transferring and a voice recorder as well. The expected 8 hours battery life seems decent for a player this small. iRiver hasn't yet announced the player's price or availability.
S10 has its color display and 2 GB of memory, but the new iPod Shuffle is already available and it is smaller. As it seems, in the near future, Apple will have to face even tougher battles with its competitors.
