Finally, iRiver makes a knock-out move on its competitors, introducing the latest portable satellite TV PMP. Does it make pancakes, too?

On the outside, the item looks good and probably sounds good, too. Anyway, this is more than an MP3 player, it is a satellite TV/music receiver which can play and record MPEG-4 file formats and deal with most of the audio and video file formats available on the market, such as WMV/MPEG-4 for animated pictures, and more.

Regarding the music capabilities, the player can read MP3, WMA and OGG file format, but it can be successfully used as a voice recorder, so if you work as a journalist or as a police investigator or just want to record your friend's funny memos, feel free to do it!

It reveals the same glossy casing, which is kind of typical for iRiver, as well as the generous 320 x 240 screen. It also sports a miniSD dock, if you ever consider expanding the memory capacity from the humble 1GB, in this case.

The TV PMP can be easily hidden in any bag or purse, since it sports reasonable dimensions of 80.9 x 16.3 x 49.5 mm and weighs only 73.8 grams. It is not very shabby either!

But the best thing for the owner is that it comes with the monthly $17 subscription service, which most the players manufacturers cannot afford to include in the price.

It amazed me that the iRiver manufacturers attached such an annoying antenna to the player. Fortunately, it is said to be detachable. As for the battery, the player uses lithium polymer, which assures up to 24 hours of continuous music playback and 5 hours for the image viewing.
