Yea, it may look like fun but it sucks big time

The first time when some work colleague of mine mentioned some stuff about the iTTUSB I kinda rejoiced as I thought that some really cool and SERIOUS gear was gonna hit the markets, pretty much to the real help of those who want their vinyls digitized but are not that eager to spend more than $2,000 on professional gear like the DeClicker.

Instead of a really cool piece of gear I found a gimmick that sold for more than 100 bucks on Amazon and promised to digitize your beloved vinyl songs so you can carry them with you on you portable music player (hence the iPod). There is nothing "magic" with this plastic turntable as it comes with a "dedicated, special" (thank god they've omitted "revolutionary") software that will actually convert the audio signal from your vinyls in formats such as MP3 or CD (btw, is "CD" a format now?)

Namely you connect the plastic turntable to your PC, install the software, then play those old scratched vinyls so you can obtain a scratched MP3, possibly in a lousy compression format so you can lose as much audio data as possible. Oh, but wait, there are vinyl-dedicated softwares, that will act as the best remedy against crackles and all sorts of pops...

Oh, but wait again, those which are good cost three times as much as your new plastic iPodifizing turntable... and those which are free are complete crap, most of them, and even more, until you find them here, it's most likely you won't be any more in that Nat King Cole mood... dammit!

Well, what can I say, if you're a fan of all sort of more or less futile gadgets that come in plastic cases and promise they'll make wonders AND you definitely can't find better way to have 100 bucks less, you could go and buy the plastic iPodizer turntable. I won't, I hate plastic turntables. (and if it's not plastic it's just as bad because it looks like it). Find out more here.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
