In the numerous iPod - Zune comparisons, features, popularity and ease of use are often the factors that get
talked about the most. This, of course, makes a lot of sense because while esthetics are important, both devices have a precise function to perform, that they need to be good at. The size of the devices, although often mentioned is also quite important, because it has a very direct impact on portability, and although the exact sizes of the devices have often been mentioned, nothings is so illustrative as a side by side size comparison in photos.
The fact that the Zune was bigger than the iPod has been known all along; this is often attributed to the WiFi and the slightly bigger screen, which despite the larger size, has the exact same resolution as the iPod. But do these features justify the bulkier player, especially when the iPod also comes in an 80GB model, while the Zune only comes in 30 GB?
"Jake Luddington puts his iPod next to a Zune at some Canadian Tech Fest and finds the Zune a little bit bigger in all regards. We knew the Zune was somewhat big from the spec sheets. But nothing quite spells out "fat lard butt" better than putting the chubby new kid next to the popular kid. Especially after meatloaf day in the cafeteria," Gizmodo reports in a picture article of the Zune and the iPod side by side which can be found
here.
