Protects your Apple player from impacts, but not strong ones...

The Black Crystal Jacket is not only a great looking accessory for your iPod touch, but a useful one at that. Power Support has just introduced the Black Crystal Jacket Set, pricing it at an affordable $29.95. It basically protects your iPod touch from impact (besides scratches and dust), but then again it doesn't.

According to Power Support's description of the Black Crystal Jacket Set for the iPod touch, this accessory is "just what you need to compliment the aesthetics of the iPod touch, without impeded use of the touch screen." So far so good. Then come the features:

- Rotating stand allows either vertical or horizontal viewing of the screen - The crystal jacket allows for protection from dust, scratches, and impacts - The slim style of the Crystal Jacket won't add bulk to your iPod.

While the stand allows vertical and horizontal positioning, not tampering with the iPod's silhouette, the crystal jacket is said to protect the Apple device from dust, scratches, and even impacts. However, scrolling through the product's official page, readers will find a note that reads:

"Note: The Crystal Jacket and Body Film cannot completely protect the iPod from all scratches or abrasions. They will not protect your player from damage due to collisions or strong impacts." So then, will it or won't it protect the iPod touch from hitting the ground? I can see it says "strong" impacts here, but who and what determines when strong or mild impact is occurring?

"If your iPod Crystal Jacket gets dirty, simply remove the iPod from the case and clean the Jacket with a neutral detergent and water. Let the Crystal Jacket dry completely before replacing the player," the note ends.

The Black Crystal Jacket Set includes the Jacket with 2 backings, one with a rotating stand and "Crystal Film" to protect the touch screen and rear cover.
