Apple has made public the financial results of the semester which ended on March 26 and surprised everybody including the company. According to the figures, in the last three months, Apple has sold 5.3 million iPods and 1.7 million Macs which generated income of 3.24 billion dollars, with a profit of 290 million dollars, record values in the company's history. The results are even better than the ones obtained during the winter holidays, when Apple sold only 4.5 million iPods and over 1 million Macs. Comparing to that period, Mac sales have increased with 40%, and iPod sales with over 50%. Even Steve Jobs said he is impressed with the figures and that incredible products will be launched next year. For the next trimester, Apple estimates that the income will be 3.25 billion dollars, and analysts are expecting 3.2 billion dollars. Considering that on April 29 MacOS X Tiger will be launched, it is possible that the estimations are exceeded. iPod continues to be Apple's locomotive, but Mac sales are starting to reach quotas that should concern the competition, especially since according to Mac store records, two out of five buyers are new Mac users. iTunes and other iPod accessory commercializing services have generated Apple income of 261 million dollars compared to 177 millions in December. Even if financial officials are still skeptic of the growing pace, it's obvious Apple is not stopping here.
