Looks like it...

In a recent article for The Herald Sun, Gavin McGrath reports on Pioneer's new DEH car sound system range that allows anyone with a Bluetooth telephone to turn their car into an integrated, interactive office. While Pioneer?s new car stereo is without a doubt exciting, there was something in the article that stirred interest, a slip.

The Pioneer system allows the user to take or make phone calls even while the phone is in the boot, because it remains connected to the car stereo. This is done through Bluetooth, and the system is smart enough to automatically lower the volume of any music being played and display all information up on the audio unit's bright blue screen, as well as allowing multiple phones to be connected and for calls to be prioritized.

While this is great for those who need connectivity to their mobile phones, it does not bode very well for iPod users because of the need for Bluetooth, but then the article also goes into that. ?The DEH requires an adapter (also sold by Pioneer) to run an iPod, but Broadhurst says Apple will bring out a Bluetooth adapter that will allow iPods to make a wireless connection, then play directly through the audio system,? McGrath writes.

Apple has made no statement about any such upcoming product, but if they had been in talks with Pioneer about an adaptor similar to the one in the Nike + iPod Sport Kit, spokesman Michael Broadhurst has made Steve Jobs a very unhappy person.
