Samsung is prepping a photo-centric update for its flagships

Early this month we told you that Samsung was hard at work prepping the Android 5.1 Lollipop update for its latest Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge flagship duo. The update will be a pretty important one, chiefly because it will bestow new camera options on the two models.

Back then we speculated the new update will probably bring RAW shooting capabilities to the table, an option which is already available on competing devices such as the HTC One M9 and LG G4. That’s still probably the case, but now Sam Mobile reveals more information related to the photo-centric aspect of the update.

One of the most talked about features of Apple’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus is the amazing camera. Despite having relatively low-res sensor, the shooter is equipped with a very nifty trick.

Smartphones usually come with an option to vary the exposure, but on the iPhone 6 Apple changes the rules of the game a little bit and allows users to manually adjust the exposure at the point of focus in the viewfinder.

This particular feature comes extremely in handy when you’re trying to capture a subject but there’s a lot of light in the background. When that happens, iPhone users are able to lower exposure levels on the subject simply by dragging their finger in the right direction (up or down).

As we told you above, changing exposure settings is possible on most Android devices out there, but the Apple way is more intuitive and fun to use. And soon Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edges will have a similar option at their disposal.

Samsung plans to make the Galaxy S6 even better

The folks at Sam Mobile have been playing around with an experimental build of Android 5.1 Lollipop on one of Samsung’s latest flagships and shared the results that can be viewed in the gallery.

Samsung is expected to roll out the new Android 5.1 build for its latest flagship devices starting in June and as we already mentioned a big focus of the update will be the camera department.

But as Android 5.1 arrives on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6, Google would have already outed the next Android iteration known as “Macadamia Nut Cookie.”
