The iPhone Dev Team announced a baseband downgrade option in the next version of redsn0w, the group’s infamous jailbreak tool for iDevices. The updated build targets iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS customers using the iPad’s 06.15 baseband on their handset.

Team leader MuscleNerd has just confirmed that the redsn0w update would be out very soon – in less than an hour, according to his blog post.

The new release will allow users to downgrade specifically from 06.15 to 05.13.04, even if they never had 05.13.04 installed before. MuscleNerd says, “This gives you the best of both worlds: ultrasn0w compatibility and a normal iPhone baseband with full GPS and the ability to use stock IPSWs again.

“For the sake of preparation,” the hacker outlines the steps required to use this version of redsn0w (available here).
