Strategy Analytics has released the Strategy Analytics Wireless Device Lab Report, which basically revolves around the idea that devices using touchscreens and accelerometers (like Apple's iPhone and iPod touch) provide an enhanced experience, as far as mobile gamers go. Titled “Innovative Built-In Sensors Drive Enhanced Mobile Gaming Experience,” the full report is available for immediate purchase via Strategy Analytics' website.

Strategy Analytics is a company whose business is to provide timely and actionable market intelligence focused on opportunities and disruptive forces in the areas of Automotive Electronics and Entertainment, Broadband Connected Home, Mobile & Wireless Intelligent Systems and Virtual Worlds.

“Driven by the explosion of application downloads to smart devices, mobile gaming is poised for growth,” Chris Schreiner, Strategy Analytics' senior user experience analyst, commented.

“Strategy Analytics interviewed 30 mobile gaming users regarding their attitudes toward innovative mobile gaming approaches and associated pricing models. Our research suggests that the option to purchase games outright must be a part of any purchase model aimed at casual mobile gamers since rental or pay-per-use models are of limited interest to this segment. Participants also experienced five different types of mobile gaming experiences. Gaming with a touchscreen and accelerometer, and multiplayer gaming via Bluetooth provided the most enhanced user experience.”

“Built-in sensors provide a personalized experience, and are compelling to the needs of mobile gamers,” Kevin Nolan, vice president of the Strategy Analytics User Experience Practice, added.

The analysis also focuses on the App Store model, which offers the option to purchase games outright. According to Strategy Analytics, this method should be part of any purchase model aimed at casual mobile gamers. The research firm has based these findings on in-depth interviews with mobile gamers in the UK.
