The people at Wolfire Games have announced the release of a classic first person shooter for iPhone and iPod touch, called Black Shades. The title is dirt cheap (just 99 cents), and offers “intense” first person shooting action, complete with multiple weapons to choose from, bullet-time events, realistic physics and more.

According to the official description of the game, Black Shades is an intense first person shooter which tells the story of a bodyguard protecting a VIP from an onslaught of assassins. The title was originally created by Wolfire's lead programmer David Rosen while he was still in high school, according to a report. Henry Kropf then took on the assignment to port the game to the iPhone, with support from the rest of the Wolfire team.

Main features include:

• Use seven different weapons to take down the assassins, or use your bare hands to disarm them! • Slow down time to line up the perfect headshot for instant kills! • Use the shotgun to blast the heads off of hordes of zombies! • Zoom in with the scoped rifle to take out enemy snipers! • Watch enemies fall to the ground with realistic physics!

The folks at Tigsource managed to get some hands on time with the game, and revealed that “[Black Shades] does a great job of making you feel like a psychic bodyguard with very basic graphics and simple game mechanics, and that’s really something. It’s so satisfying when you catch an assassin rushing in with a knife, only to plug him with your gun… or when you spy a sniper across the street, and knock over the VIP as a bullet whizzes over his head.”

It should be noted that, while the game's features sound very impressive for the one dollar price, the visual side hasn't exactly been polished up.
