Limbo has announced that 500,000 new members have joined its service since the company launched its social location tools and iPhone application on July 11th. Thanks to the iPhone app, Limbo claims customers of all carriers, who access the community from other platforms like the web, have adopted its service.

Limbo is one of the largest mobile communities in the US. The company claims increased activity across all community tools, while a substantial increase has also been spotted in the number of community interactions per member. Members generated over 57 million messages in July, up 22 percent from 44 million in June, Limbo says.

"The iPhone application launch has been a tremendous catalyst for growth," said Jonathon Linner, CEO of Limbo. "Because anyone can use Limbo, iPhone users have triggered viral growth across all carriers, mobile phone models and usage platforms. [...] iPhone application users are spurring greater interaction in the mobile community making it a richer and more enjoyable place for all Limbo members regardless of how they participate, be it through mobile web, text commands, Internet or iPhone application," Linner added.

Limbo has recently launched a series of mobile location tools, with a counterpart for the iPhone under the form of an application, downloadable via the iTunes App Store. Said app lets members connect with their friends by showing where they are and what they're doing, sort of like an evolved twitter client. Also, members that previously used Limbo exclusively for text message alerts or social games are now rapidly adopting the mobile location services, in addition to new member growth, according to Limbo. Limbo basically makes it easy to stay connected with your friends. The application shows some true potential as a dating service.

Limbo for iPhone is free to download and install on your device. The software requires iPhone firmware 2.0 or later.
