Apple is reportedly rushing out the iPhone 7 later this year in an effort to muffle the Samsung Galaxy series and take back some lost market share points. It’s a rumor we’re not particularly enamored with, but we must also accept that the possibility exists.

Yasser Farahi from Ovalpicture hit us with a link to the studio’s latest concept animation depicting the forthcoming iPhone 7 as they see it. The 1/2 minute clip shows a super slim form factor, a nicely polished back shell with chamfered edges, a flat camera module, and an edge-to-edge display, among other things.

Incremental upgrade

Ovalpicture’s talented designer sees the iPhone 7 shaping up as an improved version of the iPhone 6, not as something altogether different. If history is any indication, Apple’s phone will be strikingly similar to Yasser’s 3D model showcased in this animation.

Yasser envisions the same overall form factor, but believes Apple will take the display edge-to-edge in the next-generation iPhone. Unlike other concept videos we’ve come across, this one doesn’t boast surreal specifications, like pico projectors and such. In all fairness, this is a device Apple could – and probably will - make.

Apple Wireless Charging Dock

Sprinkling some innovation over their concept, the folks at Ovalpicture decided to invent an all-new charging method for the iPhone. Inductive charging is by no means a novelty, but it would be a first for the iPhone.

According to the concept video, users would simply place their phones on the charging pad and leave it there until it replenishes its power. The video shows off a beautiful charging animation that borrows some graphics from the Apple Watch.

iOS 9 with rounded icons

The clip does the software some justice too. When the phone turns on, a brand new iOS is displayed (presumably iOS 9, if Apple indeed decides to make iPhone 7 a reality this year), featuring rounded icons and an all-new video experience.

We’ll leave the rest for you to discover in Ovalpicture’s tantalizing short film replicating a typical iPhone presentation / launch video bearing Apple’s signature.
