According to IBNLive, the prices of Apple’s iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones have increased in India by Rs 2,500 ($40 / €37) after Arun Jaitley, India's finance minister, has announced an increase in excise duty on mobile devices that are imported in the country.

One thing leads to another, and it appears that Apple has also decided to increase the retail price of its flagship mobile phones. “A more than double increase in the excise duty, from the earlier 6 per cent to 12.5 per cent, has impacted the prices of iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 plus which will now sell for Rs 2,500 more than their earlier retail prices,” IBNLive reports on their website.
