Apple is adding new names to the long list of suppliers responsible with churning out parts for the upcoming iPhone 6. Specifically, OMRON and Radiant will produce backlighting films that handle the brightness levels and the way light is distributed across the display.

Sources in the Far East say the company is switching from two modules to just one module in the iPhone 6, resulting in a lighter and thinner design.

Apple was already known to be planning a very thin design for the handset. Rumor has it that the phone will measure just 6 millimeters (0.23 inches) in depth.

The California-based technology giant reportedly wants as many suppliers as it can get its hands on. History has shown that every new iPhone is plagued by manufacturing shortcomings, so the more suppliers Apple signs, the better.

A recent leak indicates that iPhone 6 will have a tapered display around the edges. The design will closely resemble that of the iPod touch fifth-generation, according to the latest leaks.

A 5.5-inch version of the iPhone 6 is also said to be planned for release this year. A number of analysts have said that this particular model will be harder to produce and will, therefore, be launched at a later date. However, these claims are somewhat unfounded.
