It’s also a battle between two ecosystems: iOS and Windows Phone

We have already seen how iPhone 6 Plus fares against Samsung Galaxy Note 4 on paper, but there are people who would like to know whether or not Microsoft’s high-end phablet, the Lumia 1520, can stand against Apple’s new flagship.

At first glance, it looks like it stands very well. As a matter of fact, Windows Phone fans will be pleased to know that there are lots of aspects where Nokia Lumia 1520 is definitely superior.

The comparison between displays would be a bit off, given the fact that they have different sizes, but for the record, here is all the info. The iPhone 6 Plus sports a 5.5-inch display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution, while the Lumia 1520 boasts a much larger 6-inch display with the same resolution.

However, each company employs its own display technologies, so until they’re put side by side, when it comes to image quality, view angle and stuff like that, it’s hard to judge.

Still, it’s worth mentioning that the iPhone’s display has 401ppi (pixel per inch), while Lumia 1520’s screen offers only 367ppi.

Anyway, let’s move on to the good stuff. According to Apple, the iPhone 6 Plus is equipped with a 1.4GHz dual-core A8 processor, which is based on a 64-bit architecture (ARMv8).

On the other hand, Nokia Lumia 1520 is armed with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz.

Even though iPhone’s chipset seems to have already been benchmarked using Geekbench 3, we can’t say the same thing for Nokia Lumia 1520, as the application is not available on the Windows Phone platform.

It’s worth mentioning though that the improvements from the iPhone 5s in terms of CPU performance do not seem to be major. The real gain for iPhone 6 Plus is the PowerVR GX6650 graphics processing unit that features six cores and might be better than Qualcomm’s Adreno 330 GPU.

Both phablets feature 2GB of RAM, but iPhone 6 Plus has either 16GB, 64GB or 128GB of storage, while Nokia Lumia 1520 packs 32GB. It's worth mentioning though that the Lumia 1520 also comes with microSD card slot for storage expansion (up to 128GB), which is another plus.

iPhone 6 Plus' camera is no match for Microsoft's PureView imaging technology

Moving on to the camera, we might have a clear winner, namely the Lumia 1520, which packs a 20-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, optical image stabilization and PureView technology.

iPhone 6 Plus comes with an 8-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, image stabilization, panorama, full HD (1080p) video recording and simultaneous HD video and image recording

Connectivity-wise, it seems to be a tie. Both devices offer LTE, NFC (Near Field Communication), Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0, and GPS.

When it comes to battery, things are a bit confusing for the moment, as Apple has yet to confirm the capacity of iPhone 6 Plus’ battery. Previous rumors claim that the smartphone is powered by a 2915mAh battery, but this has not been confirmed yet.

Anyway, Nokia Lumia 1520 is equipped with a 3400 mAh battery and we doubt that the iPhone 6 Plus may include a bigger one, especially considering that it’s much slimmer.

Speaking of which, iPhone 6 Plus measures 158.1 x 77.8 x 7.1mm and weighs 172g (battery included), while the Lumia 1520 is much bigger (162.8 x 85.4 x 8.7mm) and heavier (209g).

Last but not least, those who consider purchasing one of the two phablets may want to know that Nokia Lumia 1520 is much cheaper than the iPhone 6 Plus, so this point goes to Windows Phone once again.

So, we have camera, battery, microSD and price for Nokia Lumia 1520, and size, GPU (maybe?) and display for iPhone 6 Plus. In the end, it’s up to each and every user to make their choice based on tastes and needs.
