Accessory maker advertises its goods with “iPhone 6 Coming Soon” banner

Someone at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair apparently knows the specifications of Apple’s next-generation iPhone 6. An accessory maker is showing off physical metal mockups of the device while selling cases and other types of gear meant to be used with iDevices.

Japan’s Macotakara offers a set of images that show what’s going on at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair without Apple’s knowledge. Apparently, there’s an accessory maker so eager to get its products on the market that it decided to create a big, fat, green banner that states, “iPhone 6 Coming Soon.”

Alongside the banner there is a bevy of accessories on sale and two iPhone 6 mockups made from what appears to be brushed steel or aluminum. The person taking the photos managed to touch them and was unimpressed by their construction (as if the molds were supposed to serve an aesthetic purpose).

It isn’t clear why this accessory vendor decided to create these metal slates and bring them over to the Hong Kong Electronics Fair, as they represent nothing at this point. However, it surely helps delusional customers who are firmly convinced that this company has direct access to the design specifications.

In fact, the accessory maker could have access to the blueprints, should someone inside Foxconn have leaked them. Going by the latest leaks, Apple has already instructed the Chinese electronics conglomerate to prepare for assembly, therefore such a leak would not be out of the question.

There is actually a pretty good chance of Apple unveiling its iPhone 6 earlier this year, as the leaks seem to be quite abundant, a typical scenario that occurs two or three months ahead of an iPhone’s unveiling. Nevertheless, most bets are still on the September quarter launch.

Specs-wise, the phone will reportedly employ a larger screen, as evidenced in all the leaks and these mockups from Hong Kong. Measuring 4.7 inches on the diagonal, the display will offer considerably more real estate than the previous iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, and iPhone 5c handsets capped at 4 inches, not to mention the older iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, which sport 3.5-inch screens.

Another thing to look forward to is the design. Apple is said to have changed it radically, though recent leaks indicate that the phone’s “face” will undergo little to no changes. Some believe Apple needs a complete overhaul, others are fine with another iPhone that looks the same from the front.
