This is the last major part of the iPhone 6 that did not come out so far

We've seen the screen, back casing, the Apple logo, dual LED flash, sim tray and camera. Even screws and flex cables have showed up online from Chinese supply sources. The last internal of the iPhone 6 that had not come out so far was the logic board. Until today.

The guys over at Feld&Volk have snatched an exclusive on this one. Besides the curiosity driven by the new factor, the logic board does not reveal any major surprises. It may, however confirm the existence of an NFC (Near Field Communications) chip. The NFC part is not coming out for the first time. It has been around for more than 2 years, even before the iPhone 5 came out. However, Apple chose not to include the said chip in its devices so far.

The images coming from the Feld&Volk labs are showing an iPhone 5s logic board side by side with an iPhone logic board. You can see the one from the right is a little bit bigger and has a new horizontal extension.

The iPhone 6 motherboard carries the updated A8 chip which will supposedly be a 2GHz dual-core 20nm 64-bit System on a Chip. It also is smaller than the previous A7 chip. Apple uses its A8 chip for other things like the secure enclave for Touch ID - the location in which are stored all your fingerprints so that no one has access to private information on your iCloud account.

The iPhone 6 will give third party apps access to the Touch ID, so the chip architecture needs to be a really strong one in order to prevent information leaks.

The new pictures show a new chip on the logic board - Avago A8010. This is believed to be the long-rumored NFC chip. Apple is apparently working with the Dutch company NXP to release this and use it as a Mobile Payment solution with the iPhone 6.

According to other sources, your credit card info and all your other details will be securely stored in a secure enclave of the same A8 chip. Apple will finally enter the market of mobile payments, but it will do it their own way.

Apple is expected to release the next-generation iPhone in two different models. The pictures supposedly show the logic board of an iPhone 6 with a smaller 4.7-inch display, but the Cupertino, California-based tech giant will also reveal a larger iPhone.
