Screen size measures precisely 4.7 inches diagonally, source says

Another wave of iPhone 6 cases is being reported, with this particular vendor saying it received actual schematics leaked out of Apple (or Foxconn). Of particular interest in this leak is the repositioning of the Sleep/Wake/Power button and the redesigned volume buttons.

Handed over to the Frenchies at Nowhereelse.fr to do as they please, the images are of very high quality, while the cases depicted in them seem on par with all the recent rumors regarding Apple’s upcoming smartphone.

That includes a rumor about the relocation of the phone’s power button over to the right side (when the device is viewed from the front), much like on Samsung smartphones.

“Designed on the basis of information obtained from a source kept secret, these shells are supposed silicone perfect fit to iPhone 6 with a screen measuring 4.7 inches diagonally,” reads a rough machine translation of the report.

The vendor allegedly wanted to avoid passing on his specs to competitors and therefore refrained from giving the French site the exact dimensions of the hulls. The source also noted that he may well have received fake specifications, and that’s a risk they were willing to take in making these cases.

History has shown that accessory makers can lose considerable amounts of money by building cases for upcoming iPhone models months in advance, as the cases may turn out incompatible with the end device.

The colorful cases in this particular leak also indicate that the new iPhone will have slightly more rounded corners. However, the apparent size of the hulls also seems to indicate that the phone will be thicker than initially predicted.

A perfectly round cutout is placed in the exact same place where current iPhones have their Apple logo stamped, so apparently there is no change in this department.

One image in particular shows one of the cases strapped on what appears to be an iPhone 6 mockup. If this vendor’s information is accurate, we could well be looking at the final design of the handset.

Notice the reduced bezel around the display, including the narrower upper and lower black stripes which house the earpiece, ambient sensors, and Home button.

A second, larger model is reportedly planned for launch later this year. Sporting a 5.5-inch display (diagonally), the iPhone 6 “phablet” is said to be Apple’s answer to Samsung’s onslaught of big-screen smartphones. Some are skeptical that the Cupertino giant wants to compete with the Korean electronics vendor in this particular segment.
