The 8-megapixel camera captures better pictures in low light conditions

Shortly after the leak of the first alleged iPhone 6 benchmark results just a few hours ahead of the official announcement, samples taken with the camera of the new smartphone have popped up online.

They are coming from the same Chinese source that leaked the benchmark results, so the probability of both being legit is now higher. However, we recommend our readers to take the info with a grain of salt until Apple makes the iPhone 6 official.

Still, in order to quench your thirst for info on iPhone 6, here is one sample taken with the phone’s camera, which is supposed to bring huge improvements in terms of quality and speed.

Keep in mind though that the sample picture published by GforGames might have been captured with a prototype, or a device that’s not intended for retail, thus the final version could take better or worse pictures.

The good news is that we now have an idea of how Apple managed to improve the camera without bumping the number of megapixels and keeping the module camera slim enough to fit the iPhone 6’s sleek design.

Speaking of which, according to the specs sheet leaked earlier today, the iPhone 6 will be only 7mm thin and the camera on the back will have an 8-megapixel module.

Among the advanced features confirmed by said specs sheet, there’s dual-LED (dual tone) flash, simultaneous video and image recording, touch focus, geo-tagging, face detection, HDR panorama and HDR photo.

When it comes to video recording capabilities, the iPhone 6’s main camera can capture 1080p videos at 60fps. We reckon Apple decided not to include 4K video recording capabilities into its iPhone 6, but we won’t know for sure until the smartphone’s specs get confirmed later today.

Moving on to quality of the leaked sample, it looks like iPhone 6 can take much brighter pictures in low light conditions than the iPhone 5s. The source that published the iPhone 6 photo sample also compared it with a picture taken under the same conditions with the LG G3.

You can see the difference in the gallery section below to get an idea of what are the iPhone 6’s camera low light capabilities.

Expect more leaks about various iPhone 6 hardware components to continue to come in in the next couple of hours, so stick with us if you want to know everything there is to know about Apple’s flagship smartphone, before it goes official later today.
