An iPhone sure knows how to put on a show. In addition to its good looks and flashy software, every iPhone has one more ace up its sleeve to guarantee that you’ll always live on the edge with one of these babies in your pocket.

I’m talking about the spontaneous combustion issue which, as of late, seems to have stepped out of the shadows to redeem its title as widespread.

A user sent in a bunch of photos to 9to5mac claiming his iPhone’s battery inflated all of the sudden and started puking out smoke. Similar cases have been reported in the past, and the problem almost always originates in the battery cell.

Some units may be equipped with faulty batteries or the user may have done something to damage it. In any case, if this happens to your iPhone, my winning advice is to stand a few feed away until the thing finishes consuming itself. The next step is to take to Apple for replacement.
