Developers haven’t been able to test their apps against the new A7 chip

An app performance monitoring company called Crittercism has discovered that iOS applications tend to crash twice as much on the new iPhone 5s, compared to the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 5c.

The reason? The A7 chip, of course. Crittercism CEO Andrew Levy explained to All Things D that third-party application developers were able to test their software against iOS 7, but not the A7 processor, since it’s only been available for a few weeks.

The iPhone 5 and the 5c, on the other hand, both pack the A6 chip which developers have long been supporting. A new processor means more chances an app will be incompatible, so it really isn’t that big of a mystery why some apps will crash more often on the 5s.

In related news, the phone in question also seems to suffer from an embarrassing Blue Screen of Death issue. All of these reported bugs are likely to be fixed in the upcoming 7.0.3 update.
