PCB design seems to suggest we’re in for an iPhone 5S this year

As the launch of Apple’s next iPhone draws near, China continues to pump the Internet with images that purportedly show its inner workings.

Whether it’s the iPhone 5S or the iPhone 6 that uses this logic board is anybody’s guess.

This "leak" from Moumantai could well be fake, but since this is the first alleged leak of the logic board belonging to the 2013 iPhone refresh, it’s best if we hold on to it until anything more convincing pops up.

So, what are we looking at? Actually, we’re not looking at anything until that PCB (printed circuit board) starts housing some chips. What would really make a great next-gen iPhone leak would be a PCA (printed circuit assembly), which is a PCB populated with electronic components.

There’s one thing we can take away from this leak (if we assume it’s real), and that is the design. It’s not changed compared to what you can see inside the iPhone 5, so it looks like Apple has another incremental S-upgrade lined up for us this year.

That, or it’s the PCB that holds the chips for Apple’s rumored low-cost iPhone. We’ll have to wait and see, as always.
