Electronics share similarities with hardware from early 5S prototype leaks

Photos are beginning to pop up showing what is claimed to be the logic board of the iPhone 5C, Apple’s low-cost iPhone revision set to be unveiled tomorrow, September 10.

To save everyone the suspense, the images don’t reveal anything new in particular (aside from some offset screw holes and minor aesthetic differences that bear no clues regarding what’s beneath the metal shielding).

Needless to point out, the people who are flashing these images are probably hoping to generate additional hype by showing off the chips in a second photo shoot. Leaks tend to be spread like that these days.

A set of pictures comes from C Technology, while another comes by way of Sina Weibo, the Chinese version of Twitter (via the French geeks at Nowhereelse).

However, not long after these images started circulating, people began noticing that the hardware looked pretty much identical to a previously-leaked logic board which was said to come from an iPhone 5S prototype.

Of course, with the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C launching simultaneously, it’s not surprising that both phones share component similarities. The chips will obviously differ, but the metal shielding can be the same for both phones.

Rumor has it that Apple plans to start shipping the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C on September 20, with the phones being unveiled September 10 in the US and September 11 in China, respectively.

China is said to be a big customer this time around, with Apple having finally struck a deal to deliver the iPhone to China Mobile’s 700+ million subscribers.

The iPhone 5S will reportedly look the same as the iPhone 5, but will ship with an additional color option (gold/champagne) and will sport a faster processor, better cameras, and, allegedly, a new (high-end) storage capacity version (128GB).

Moreover, all eyes are on the Home button, which is said to employ a fingerprint sensor.

The iPhone 5C will reportedly have identical specs to the iPhone 5, but will ship in a plastic enclosure, with multiple color options and a lower-than-normal price.
