Apple is delivering “late” iPhone 5 pre-orders earlier than expected, a number of customers have confirmed. The Apple online store, however, is still listing a 3-4-week delivery for orders placed today.

Some early iPhone 5 buyers (who pre-ordered the handset through Apple) are beginning to receive confirmation emails from the mothership stating, “We’re happy to let you know that the items below are on their way to you.”

The California-based company also includes delivery estimates and tracking information for the customer.

Apple sold two million iPhone 5 units in just the first 24 hours of pre-order availability. The Mac maker is expected to release new record-breaking figures today, following a full week of pre-order availability.

Barclays analyst Ben Reitzes said, “We are positively surprised regarding the pace of the rollout, since we had expected a bigger impact from component constraints.”
