Based on leaked cases that were said to fit an Apple iPhone 5 perfectly, concept drawing artists got to work and came up with some cool renderings, many of which seem quite plausible.

The latest, however, seems highly plausible, should those leaked third-party cases be accurate in their own specifications.

Having commissioned CiccareseDesign to work up some cool imagery for the iPhone fanatic to drool over, MacRumors reports today that the image you see displayed above may well be what Apple’s new iPhone 5 will look like.

The rumor site believes there’s a good chance of this happening, since leaked case designs have been very predictive in the past.

These high quality rendering have been made to fit the original leaked case designs as closely as possible.

The procedure sounds rather simple - measurements were taken against the original leaks, then imported into 3D modeling software - but getting the end redesigns surely was no picnic.

So what do we have here?

First of all, this concept iPhone looks a tad shorter. And it is, according to its creators. Just a few millimeters can make a whole lot of difference though.

However, it’s a tad wider, and the bezel is gone, which leaves a lot more room for the screen, which is also larger now.

The home button is different too. The leaked cases indicated Apple was planning to change the home button from round to oval - perhaps to throw in new functionality, like touch sensors for swipe gestures.

Another important design characteristic is the tapered back shell which is now made of aluminum.

There have been some rumors of Apple wishing to switch back to the light-weight material, but nothing is confirmed as of yet.

Other particularities involve button placement, the speaker and microphone holes, etc.

All in all, this is what the folks at CiccareseDesign have come up with. It’s your turn to talk now. What do you think of these new mockups?
