Another issue arises with the latest smartphone from Apple

After serving a number of iPhone 5 units with scuffs and marks to end-users, Apple is now shipping some handsets with loose chamfers, which allow light from the LCD to leak out in the dark.

While not necessarily a serious issue, the light leakage only adds atop of a widely-reported faulty Maps application, as well as reports of iPhones arriving with scratches and dings, out of the box.

The light leak was reported on the MacRumors forums, where several customers claim to have had the same experience. Light from the Retina display within the handset bursts out between device’s glass digitizer and chamfered aluminum antenna, BGR reports.

The site also notes that its own review unit exhibits the same issue. It may well be that Apple has a design defect on its hands.
