Duracell rolls out the new Powermat Wireless Charging station

Although many smartphones today support wireless / inductive charging, Apple is yet to implement this highly-convenient feature for its iPhones.

And while the upcoming iPhone 5S/iPhone 6 may offer such functionality, Duracell felt the customer couldn’t wait any longer, so they rolled out the Powermat Wireless Charging solution for iPhone 5 owners.

It’s not exactly invisible, and it’s not exactly the ideal solution for wirelessly charging your Apple smartphone, but at least it works.

The bundle includes a protective Access Case which enables wireless charging for the iPhone on any enabled surface, and users can also attach a 1950mAH Duracell-grade “Snapbattery” which allegedly “more than doubles the iPhone 5's battery life while letting them add and remove the battery.”

“Simply ‘snap on’ the Snapbattery on the case when you need it and ‘snap it off’ when you don't,” says Duracell.

The Snapbattery itself can be recharged on any powermat or through a USB connection.

If the features alone aren’t enough to convince you to buy the product, Duracell thought you should know that its Powermat for iPhone 5 was conceived by famed designer Yves Behar.

The Duracell Powermat comes with the AccessCase and the Snapbattery as a “PowerSnap kit” bundle for $99.99 (€76). They are also available separately.
