The world is eagerly waiting to see the new iPhone 5 and, as usual, spammers and cybercriminals have decided to take advantage of the buzz to launch their own campaigns. Experts have spotted iPhone 5 case advertisements landing in inboxes.

“Hi, I am sorry for this email if it gives inconvenience to you. We released a few new iPhone 5 Cases. Please kindly see below for your reference,” reads an email analyzed by Kaspersky experts.

We want to remind everyone that Apple is not giving away a limited number of free iPhone 5s and no one could have made cases for it without seeing how the phone actually looks.

We advise users to be on the lookout for such unsolicited messages since they can carry malware, or point to malicious websites that serve who-knows-what devious purpose.
