People already complain about decreased speeds on the carrier's network

Mobile phone carrier Sprint has just made available for purchase on its airwaves the latest flavor of Apple's iPhone device, and users are already complaining of decreased data transfer rates.

Apparently, the new Apple iPhone 4S device indeed managed to affect the experience other users benefit from on Sprint's network, even if the wireless carrier was confident that this won't happen.

Over at Reddit, a relatively large number of Sprint customers who own devices running under Google's Android operating system, have been complaining about these issues.

There are even some users who report dramatic decreases in download speeds, although the iPhone is certainly not to blame in all cases.

According to some of the users who have been posting on the said thread, they are currently experiencing speeds of around 200-500kbps, while being accustomed with speeds of 1Mbps on average.

However, just as stated above, the iPhone is not to blame at all times for these issues, since the speeds will also vary according to coverage, signal strength and region.

On the other hand, it would not be the first time that users of other smartphones out there would see their experience crippled by the increased use of the iPhone on their wireless carrier's airwaves.

AT&T's customers, for example, have been hit hard with similar problems due to a massive use of data coming from the Apple iPhone, which has been on their carrier's network for several years now.

Verizon, who launched the iconic device earlier this year, did not experience such issues on its CDMA airwaves.

Sprint however, the third largest wireless carrier in the United States, who operates a CDMA network as well, seems to have been already affected.

One way or the other, one thing that is certain is that it's still too soon to blame the Apple device for decreased speeds on Sprint's network, since the handset has been around for only several days now.
