'Only a few to wait now', according to the infamous Pod2g

Pod2g is proud to present his almost finished untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4S in a video shot by a friend of his who is also a famous iOS developer.

The Chronic Dev Team leader uses both Twitter and his blog to inform the masses that his A5 untethered jailbreak is soon to be released to the public. That means iPad 2 users will also be able to employ the hack.

“My friend @DHowett made a video of an untethered 4S iPhone 4,1 running iOS 5.0.1 some days ago,” Pod2g writes. The infamous hacker explains that “@DHowett is a famous iOS developer and a member of the Chronic Dev Team.”

“Only a few to wait now,” Pod2g concludes.

The French hacker has been busy cracking the A5 untethered jailbreak for quite some time now, but he has also been careful to keep everyone posted regarding his progress.

And not only his, but also his fellow hackers’ progress on various other fronts, such as the untethered jailbreak for A4 devices under iOS 5.0.1.

Apparently there was a bug affecting iBooks on jailbroken devices running iOS 5.0.1, and people like @xvolks, @iH8sn0w, and @saurik (the owner of Cydia) managed to fix it and released an updated version of Corona, an untether utility available via Cydia.

“@saurik posted version 1.0.4 of Corona in Cydia. Update now,” wrote Pod2g in an earlier post. “This fixes both the launchd socket issue (last fix didn't work randomly) and iBooks,” he explained. “Thanks to @xvolks for the development and @iH8sn0w for the testing,” his post reads.

Also worth noting is that another hacker working on the A5 untether has been able to run unsigned code on the iPhone 4S.

“Finally got unsigned code running on my 4S with the stuff that will go into the new jailbreak!”, hacker Planetbeing wrote on Twitter.

This achievement counts as a significant contribution towards the final version of the hack.
