Hot on the heels of the wide range of issues AT&T and Apple have had with the pre-orders of iPhone 4 on June 15 and afterwards, we learn that the iPhone 4 won't be available for purchase in the carrier's stores until June 29. The officially announced availability date for the device is June 24, yet it seems that the handset would be delayed a little, mainly due to the high demand it already registered during the pre-order period.

“AT&T is on-track to deliver iPhone 4 to customers who preordered the device on June 15. We look forward to offering iPhone 4 to all other customers beginning Tuesday, June 29, when it goes on sale in all AT&T sales channels,” the wireless carrier announced recently, Engadget reports. According to AT&T, the iPhone 4 pre-order sales during the first day of availability were 10 times higher than those registered for the iPhone 3GS last year, and the delays are the result of this state of facts.

The carrier continues, “Here are a few guidelines for customers buying iPhone 4 from AT&T: - Preordered for home or business delivery: iPhone 4 will begin arriving this week for customers who preordered. We'll send an email when each order has shipped. - Preordered for store delivery: AT&T retail representatives will begin calling customers this week to let them know their iPhone 4 is available for pick up in store.

Those AT&T customers who did not pre-order an iPhone 4 on June 15 won't be able to purchase the device prior to June 29, it seems. According to the wireless carrier, as soon as the new batch of devices arrives, the sales would be performed on a “first-come, first-served basis” until the stock is sold out. As soon as that happens, users should be able to register their orders to receive the device at home or in an AT&T store. The company will confirm orders via email, both when they are accepted and when they start shipping.

The wireless carrier also announced that it planned on keeping customers updated on iPhone 4 activities and important information, and that it intended to post a series of videos on its Facebook page starting this week. These clips would cover customer-friendly tips and instructions on placing orders for the iPhone 4, on activating the device, and on the new MicroSIM, which are unique to iPhone 4 devices.
