Jonathan Mann feels more than compensated for just having Apple feature his song during the July 16 event

Apple decided to kick off Friday’s press event with a funny song composed by Jonathan Mann, a figure many YouTube users should be familiar with. Mann posts a song every day with a different topic. The iPhone 4 fiasco was undoubtedly one to capitalize on, although the only compensation he wanted was increased interest in his music, according to an interview with the guy.

In the iPhone 4 Antenna Song, Mann says:

"there’s an awful lot of hoopla around the iphone 4 antenna when you grip it with the death grip and you’re call slips away the media loves a failure in a string of successes the facts won’t ever matter if they can make their big ammases sure i can make it happen but in terms of daily usage i’ve yet to drop a call so this whole damn thing is stupid and you can call me a fanboy i’ve been called worse things but gizmodo is ridiculous pulling their anti-apple strings so you bought a stolen prototype get over it and move on hey I’ve got an idea let’s all sing this song

it goes…

if you don’t want an iPhone 4 don’t buy it if you bought one and you don’t like it bring it back

everybody…

if you don’t want an iPhone 4 don’t buy it if you bought one and you don’t like it bring it back

just bring it back… bring it back, bring it back… back to the Apple store…

but you know you won’t"

It wasn’t only Apple that saw the video with good eyes, but 9to5mac as well, whose staff decided to give Mann a call. They asked him how Apple ended up featuring his song during Friday’s event, how he felt about it… the usual stuff. According to the site, his answer was:

"As for asking permission, I got a call pretty soon after I woke up yesterday. It was pretty simple, they called and asked and I said, um, yes! So, I talked to Apple a little after the show, they thanked me and I thanked them. I forget the name of the guy...I think he was in PR. He probably called yesterday around 3 or so. As for compensation, the increased interest in my music, etc, seems like a lot to me... I don't really feel the need to ask for anything more! If that makes any sense."

Mann also made a love song dedicated to Apple’s iconic CEO. Both clips are embedded below for your viewing pleasure.
