Along with the carrier's new network

It seems that mobile phone users in Canada won't have to wait too much for the new iteration of the iPhone to become available in the country on other operators than Rogers, as some of the latest news around the Internet point towards October as a possible launch date for the iPhone 3GS with wireless carrier Telus. This might come as a surprise for some, yet it seems that it all makes sense in a way.

To be more precise, Telus, which is currently a CDMA carrier, is preparing the roll-out of an HSPA network across Canada. The wireless operator is set to commercially launch the new network in October, and this would coincide with the release of the iPhone 3GS, which is a GSM/HSPA phone, on its airwaves, so the two would go along together.

Basically, in case the third largest carrier in the country manages to deploy its new network by October, it will be able to release the iPhone 3GS as well. Although the handset has been already launched in Canada via Rogers and Fido, it seems that the two won't have it exclusively, and this might be a good thing for mobile subscribers in the country, after all.

There are no other details on the supposed launch just yet, but it appears that a Telus executive has already confirmed the upcoming availability of the Apple device on the carrier's lineup. Given the fact that no official word from the company has been said until now, it still remains to be seen whether this will actually happen.

The new iPhone comes with a series of improvements over the previous models, while also sporting a new platform, the iPhone OS 3.0, with even more added functionality than before, which should make a wide number of users rejoice. As many of you might already know, the smartphone was sold in more than 1 million units in the first three days of availability and should see a lot of traction from Telus' users as well.
