It seems that the latest iteration of the iPhone will not be so cheap upon arriving to Europe, or at least to some of the countries on the continent. According to a leaked document on Vodafone's roadmap, mobile phone users in Italy will be able to buy the iPhone 3G S for a whopping €619 ($860) for the 16GB version and €719 ($998) for the 32GB one.

If we were to compare the prices that the device will sport on other markets, then we can simply say that the iPhone 3G S will be a rather expensive mobile phone when it will become available for purchase in the country. For example, in the United States the device will cost $599 and $699 for the unlocked 16GB and 32GB models, respectively.

For what it's worth, those who will go for the handset on a contract will pay much less in the US, namely $199 and $299, respectively, while those in the UK are very likely to see the iPhone 3G S available for free on a two-year contract. Even so, it seems that there are some countries in which the phone should sell unlocked, and the prices there will jump up a little more than expected.

It should be rather interesting to watch the performance of the iPhone 3G S in Europe, especially if it is going to feature such high price tags. Moreover, we should also take into consideration the fact that some of the existing customers in US started to complain when they learned that they might have to pay up to $500 to get the new handset.

There are great chances that some of those who were thinking about getting the new iPhone iteration will switch to another device that will offer them similar functionality at a lower price. Even so, there are a lot of enthusiasts who will certainly be willing to spend $1000 to get the iPhone 3G S, so as to be able to enjoy the newly added compass or the larger amount of memory.
