iPhone 3G (32GB) Said to Accompany In-Home Activation Process

Provided that rumors of Apple's lifting the in-store iPhone activation process materialize, a new iPhone 3G model (32GB) is to arrive on the scene, speculation has it. Also backing up this story are reports saying that Apple's 8GB iPhone 3G is almost nowhere to be found anymore.

It generally occurs that, when Apple
depletes stock for a certain device model, revamped / higher-specced models are in order. It was the case with Apple's original iPhone that slowly, but steadily vanished from store shelves, making room for the new 3G model. iPod touch refreshes have also been marked by stock dry-ups, back when Apple decided to throw in the 16GB SKU. Most recently, sources indicate that Apple is approaching a new end of cycle.

“Given reports that Apple’s 8GB iPhone 3G stock is drying up, we’re hearing that there’s a distinct possibility of Apple introducing a new 32GB iPhone 3G model alongside the re-introduction of in-home activation for the holiday shopping season,” IntoMobile is reporting.

It has been rumored recently that Apple's in-store only iPhone 3G activation policy will be pulled. Reports of people queuing up at Apple Retail Stores and AT&T have (seemingly) prompted the company to consider this a viable alternative. While Apple claimed the activation of an iPhone 3G would be a painless and fast process, many eventually ended up spending well over the 15 minutes advertised by the company. Hence, a user-friendly activation process is likely to be set up, some believe.

It's also Apple's pleasure to treat its customers to exciting new products, as the holidays approach. It's true, however, that Apple's biggest i-announcements this year have already been made at the Let's Rock event in San Francisco. After all, it wouldn't have hurt Steve Jobs to mention a 32 gig iPhone 3G on stage, along with the 4G nano and the 2G iPod touch. Then again, it also wouldn't have hurt him to mention the recently-emerged 4G iPod nano 4GB as well. What are your thoughts on this?

1. When I heard of a class action suit dismissed against Apple for the battery issue, I looked on the back of my box and it was written there. Now how many people get to read a box with an iphone when you don't get to see the box until you buy the phone? True, Apple made a statement, but it's in the realm of "let the buyer beware." I bought 2 3G phones and if I had read that statement about replacement of batteries I would not have bought the phones. I had 2 Sanyo phones for over 4 years and the batteries still were functional.

Also, I just bought the 2 iphones 16gb. Now they are introducing, one month after the 16gb, a 32 gb. That costs less than the 16gb. This is a replay of what they did when they first launched the original iphone. I think it is in poor taste for Apple to do this to customers. Let them buy the best and 2 months later come up with a better phone and for less money.

I'm dissatisfied.

I don't necessarily have a problem with the way Apple does business. While it is shady at best with some aspects of releasing better products for less money when you paid a premium for the inferior product. I always keep my iPhones in tip-top condition so that I can sell them and then buy the new iPhone with the money I received from the previous model. It always works out for me and there is ALWAYS a potential buyer for my mint condition iPhone. I have the 16Gig model and will sell it once the 32Gig model is released. :)

Guys and Girls!!

It is only a phone to make calls, watch movie clips, listend to music and send txt messages.

If I may complain, why can't you use the the iPhone for a modem on the Macbook because most of the ther phones on par with the iPhone can be used for that??

If any of you have an app for me that can do this, please share it with me.
