A company going by the name of iPhone Unlocking Ltd. claims to have released a tool that can effectively unlock any iPhone model running the latest iPhone 3.1 software from Apple, as well as perform a jailbreak. The application, however, is paid, with no option to try-before-you-buy.

“Since we launched our very first iPhone Unlock software in August of 2007 our software has been downloaded by over 1 million customers worldwide, located in over 145 countries,” says iPhone Unlocking Ltd., whose business doesn't strike us as perfectly legit.

“This makes us the most experienced and accomplished iPhone Unlocking service in the industry,” the company says on its website, where a big download button takes visitors to a payment page. “Our iPhone Unlock software has been developed with absolute simplicity in mind,” the company adds. According to iPhone Unlocking Ltd., even “the absolute computer illiterate” will be able to easily unlock their device.

Most importantly, iPhone Unlocking Ltd. notes that, “From this moment in time our software is now capable of unlocking any iPhone worldwide in just a matter of minutes. This includes the very latest iPhone 3Gs running the firmware version 3.1.” “Upon unlocking your iPhone you will be able to use any network provider of your choice from any location in the world,” the company claims.

The iPhone Unlock software also has the capability to re-lock an iPhone at any time. This, according to the app’s makers, ensures that the warranty remains valid should the user ever need to return the iPhone to Apple for repairing, replacing, etc. Best of all, according to the FAQ, the software can also jailbreak an iPhone, “which will allow you the use of the Cydia and Installer applications,” the company outlines. To make its offer even more attractive, iPhone Unlocking Ltd. claims it has so much confidence in its iPhone unlock software that it is offering a 100% full, money-back guarantee on all orders. It all sounds a little too good to us.

In related news, the iPhone Dev Team is working on a similar unlock & jailbreak tool for iPhones and iPod touch devices, which should become available for download as early as this week. Unlike the iPhone Unlock app from iPhone Unlocking Ltd., the Dev Team’s PwnageTool is free and is known to be reliable.

Softpedia doesn't condone jailbreaking / unlocking the iPhone / iPod touch or any other device. This article has a purely informational purpose and doesn't, in any way, suggest that you should hack your Apple device. Using hacks may render your device unusable, or may reduce the quality of your experience using the respective device. If you choose to download and install jailbreak tools, you will do so at your own risk. Unlocking / jailbreaking your iPhone / iPod touch may violate your warranty or the EULA with Apple and / or your cellular-service provider.

I've used a previous unlock solution from this company. Once downloaded, it became obviious that all they had done was rebadge Redsnow, which was free, and sell it at £29.99. Being fairly naive where jalibraking/unlocking was concerned, I bought it, thinking it was another solution as I couldn't get Redsnow to work (at the time) and found myself £29.99 out of pocket. When I raised this with Iphone Unlocking Ltd, they didn't want to know and would not offer a refund, even where they they were clearly passing off someone elses software and therefore development work (and intellectual property) as their own. I very much doubt they've developed a solution to 3.1. It is more than likely someone else's rebadged solution...or it doens't work at all. AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Company, you are talking about is selling something what is absolutly free to download all over the internet and it come from iPhone DevTEAM.

I've tried their solution few days ago, and I've asked to refund my money back, because what has been offered to me for that price was only old version of PWNAGE tool and RedSn0w 0.7 :-( Which is not ofcourse working for firmware version 3.1! Be carefull, if you order this you wont get anything.

Please be careful with this! For about 29 $ you will get :

- Pwnage Tool (Created by DevTeam)
- RedSn0w Tool 0.7 which is not working for 3.1 Firmware at all!

I don't trust these guys. My sincere request to all iPhone users, please wait for the dev team to come up with an unlock solution. There are lots of crooks charging a ransom for the iPhone unlock. This started with the Anysim application which is now history. Dev team gives us free solution and it is reliable.

Don't download from this company, they took my money, never responded to emails or calls. I to was naive to unlocking and jailbreaking and got ripped off by buying a re-baged product. they also state that you have a lifetime upgrade, well 3.1 is out and they don't have a solution.

Yeah, its definitely best to wait for Dev team to release Pwnage tool or chronic Devteam to release greenpoison.

At this time, there is not a jailbreak option that I have heard of for firmware 3.1, 3.1 permanently changes the baseband. Even if you somehow find a way to jailbreak at this time, you possibly won't be able to have a single bit of cell phone service, DevTeam is working on one that will find a hole in the 3.1 firmware, so that the baseband can be changed or used with jailbreaking.

Why in the hell would people pay for jailbreaking and unlocking when the good
people of dev team will provide one soon for free ? These people selling this software are crooks ! Pay for something that we dont even know if its works or not ? Get real !!!!

I was one of the idiots who purchased this software, just to find out that it is Pwnagetool .8 and it does not work. They even promise a refund. Have fun trying to get that. They must be paying softpedia to advertise for them. It's just a scam.

This website is a complete SCAM. When you pay for the software to jailbreak/unlock your iPhone you will not hear from them again. Unfortunately I got caught out by these crooks but I’m going to every website that advertise for this company and I’m writing bad reveiws. I don’t want anybody else to get ripped off like I did. They advertise 24/7 365 days a year support. I’ve tried phoning, emailing and using their “Live Chat” but I’m yet to speak to anyone. The customer reviews on their website are also fake. How can all the reviews give 5 stars out of 5? No company is perfect! iPhoneunlocking.com are SCAMMERS – PLEASE DO NOT PAY ANYTHING TO THESE CROOKS. Don’t get caught out like I did. I had to cancel my bank card just in case they tried to take more cash from my account. PLEASE DON’T DO IT!!
