Although Apple launched the much awaited iPhone 2.1 software update complete with changelog, some of the new additions weren't mentioned officially. Users have, nonetheless, discovered many of them and have even compiled new lists of changes, together with screenshots.

MacRumors is proud to report that two of its readers have been able to confirm many more additional features (in iPhone firmware 2.1) than reported by Apple. For instance, forum user justinomg has compiled quite an extensive list revealing "additional undocumented changes in the latest iPhone firmware," and has even thrown in screenshots to go with it. A few noteworthy findings include the ability to pause application installations by tapping on the icon, triple clicking on the headset button to go to the previous track, podcasts listings now indicate partially listened items, iPod song listings now show artist and album name and improved compatibility with certain Bluetooth headsets. Also, iTunes now displays how much information is taken up by applications installed on your iPhone, according to the same user.

However, as most iPhone owners should know, the 2.0 software has also been reported to crash dozens, if not over a hundred apps downloaded from Apple's App Store. Yes, we're not talking about jailbroken devices, but iPhones running official software from Apple, and legally-downloaded apps from the iTunes App Store. As it turns out, many of the apps that used to malfunction under firmwares 2.0, 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 now run just fine. User yoman was able to confirm the following apps as good to go with 2.1.

Last.fm: 20 reports (no audio) Developer aware, v2.0 update in transit

Zen Pinball: 20 reports (no graphics white screen)

Toybot Diaries: 20 reports (corrupted sound effects) Developer aware, v1.2 update in transit

Alli's Jigsaw: 10 reports (cannot select new image) Developer aware, update in transit

Asphault 4: 5 reports (drifting and braking sound effect corrupted, freezes)

Splash ID:>5 reports (?keyboard no longer automatically appears in login screen?/works intermittently for some) Developer aware, update in transit

Brain Tuner: 2 reports (crashes, appears to function after reinstall though) Reinstall fixes issue

Other titles that now work just fine are also included in the compatibility-affected list.

While many were also hoping Apple would throw the "push notifications" feature back in with the 2.1 update, the same source is reporting that things haven't changed much since iPhone 2.1 Beta 4.
