We’re only a few days away from the public launch of the smaller iPad and, unsurprisingly, new rumors are spreading around.

The editors over at MacRumors have been sent a couple of photos showing the battery of the new iPad mini which is slated to be unveiled on October 23.

As you can see in the picture, the battery bears model number A1445 and an Apple part number of 616-0641. But what’s more important, it uses 3.72 volts and offers 16.7 watt-hour of energy via 4490 mAh of charge.

Why is this so impressive? This battery brings the small iPad just between the brand new iPhone 5, which has a battery of 5.45 watt-hours, and the new iPad that boasts 42.5 watt-hours.

It remains to be seen, however, if this is indeed the battery Apple intends to use on the iPad mini, as more information is expected to surface in the next few days.
