Apple has been forced to push the launch of a new iPad mini farther ahead, amid shortages in Retina display production, a new report claims.Economic Daily News reports that Apple’s launch plans for the iPad mini 2 have been pushed to 2014, mainly because the companies producing its Retina displays have failed to meet demand.
The report mentions both Retina-enabled and non-Retina iPad minis being on track for launch next year, though it’s hard to believe a standard iPad mini could survive next to a Retina-capable one.
Apple was said to have planned the iPad mini 2 launch for Fall 2013. The company is expected to host an event for a new iPhone release in a few months, and the stage was reportedly set for some iPad announcements too. It remains to be seen whether those plans have indeed been canceled.
