Following the release of iPad 2 earlier this year, Apple is expected to up the ante with the launch of a new flavor of its tablet PC before 2011 is over, one that would be aimed mainly at professionals, if the latest reports on the matter are to be believed.

This fall should see the new iPad HD model added to Apple's tablet family, sporting double the screen resolution of the current device.

Overall, the new iPad model is expected to prove a “pro” device, aimed at the high-end of the market, and expected to prove a great option for those who work in video and photo production.

With a screen resolution that would top 2048 x 1536 pixels, it would certainly manage to lure people on its side.

Moreover, it should be released with a special version of Apple's Final Cut or Aperture pre-loaded, further showing a commitment towards said professionals.

The most interesting part of the rumor is that the new device will not be the already talked about iPad 3 device, but that it would be a member of the iPad 2 line.

The new model will supposedly precede the next iPad release, supposedly dubbed iPad 3, which should be launched in early 2012 with specifications that would put it in line or above this year's HD variant.

According to the report, a comparison can be made between the iPad HD and iPad 2 pair on the one side, and MacBook and MacBook Pro on the other.

Previously, the device was said to be on its way to the market with a dual GSM / CDMA Qualcomm chipset inside, making it compatible with the airwaves of a wider range of carriers around the world, including AT&T and T-Mobile in the US.

Some suggest that it would actually be unlikely for Apple to bring to shelves this year an iPad device with an HD screen, since it would bring fragmentation to iOS and to the series of applications available for the tablet family.
