Major accessory maker shows, then retracts new iPad design and cases

ZAGG, one of the biggest iAccessory makers on the market, temporarily posted the new iPad 5 design on its web site promoting some new accessories, including cases and keyboards.

Pictured above are the respective goods. As the screenshot shows, ZAGG knows what the iPad 5 is going to look like (like everyone else on a 50-light-year radius), and it’s got some new hardware to sell to you when you take home an iPad 5 and realize you’d fancy some keystrokes.

More interesting is the fact that the page where these goods used to be advertised is now gone. Why would ZAGG go and do something like that? Well, there’s a pretty good chance Apple sent them a cease and desist letter telling the company to take down those ads or else no more MFI (Made For iPhone/iPad/iPod) certification.

It escapes me why these companies, walking on thin ice as it is, are pushing their luck like this.

Apple is set to unveil its new iPad 5 on October 22, next week.
