A week ahead of the rumored Apple event for the latest iPad refresh, case vendors in China are beginning to show off their goods, revealing the dimensions of the upcoming tablet computers.

Not that we didn’t know by now what the iPad 5 would look like, but it’s always good to have additional confirmation.

According to DigiTimes, numerous vendors have already demonstrated their iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 accessories at China Sourcing Fair: Electronics & Components in Hong Kong.

Some of these sellers pointed out that “the new iPad's major difference compared to the fourth-generation iPad is the adoption of a thinner bezel, which will slightly reduce the new tablet's thickness and size,” according to the report.

In essence, the iPad 5 will be a blown-up version of the iPad mini. It will be considerably smaller and lighter compared to the current-generation iPad (4), but the screen size (and resolution) will remain intact.

“As for the new iPad mini, since its industrial design is the same as the first-generation iPad mini, the accessories are interchangeable,” according to the same intel.

However, some accessory vendors have pointed out that there are minute differences between the chassis of an original iPad mini and the chassis of an iPad mini 2.

The second-generation model, which is expected to boast a crisp Retina display, is reportedly thicker and wider than the first-generation model. This is said to be primarily because of the higher-density display.

However, the changes in dimensions are so small, most accessories will indeed fit both the original iPad mini, and the iPad mini 2.

Both the iPad 5 and the iPad mini 2 are expected to launch in three different color options: Silver, Space Gray, and Gold.
